Truck Driver:

Job Details:

Worthey Trucking is seeking reliable and experienced Truck Drivers to join our team. As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods across various routes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, adherence to all federal and state driving regulations, and the ability to deliver goods efficiently and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have excellent driving skills, a solid work ethic, and a customer-focused attitude.

Truck Driver:

Key Responsibilities:

Safe Driving:

  • Operate company trucks, including tractor-trailers, to transport goods over long and short distances.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure the safety of yourself and others on the road.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring that the truck is in good working condition and reporting any mechanical issues.

Timely Deliveries:

  • Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely delivery of goods to customers, taking into account factors such as traffic, weather conditions, and delivery schedules.
  • Communicate with dispatchers and customers to provide updates on delivery status and address any delays or issues that arise.

Load and Unload Cargo:

  • Assist in the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring that cargo is properly secured and complies with weight limits.
  • Handle and transport goods safely, particularly if dealing with hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.

Compliance and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of driving hours, delivery logs, mileage, and any incidents or delays, in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork, including bills of lading, delivery receipts, and inspection reports, is completed and submitted on time.

Customer Service:

  • Interact professionally with customers during pickups and deliveries, ensuring a positive experience and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Represent Worthey Trucking with a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.

Vehicle Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance checks on the truck, including checking oil levels, tire pressure, brakes, and lights.
  • Report any mechanical issues or damage to the vehicle promptly and ensure that repairs are carried out as needed.
  • Keep the truck clean and in good condition, both inside and out.

Safety and Emergency Procedures:

  • Follow all safety protocols, including the use of seat belts, maintaining a safe following distance, and avoiding distractions while driving.
  • Be prepared to handle emergencies such as vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or adverse weather conditions, and follow company procedures for reporting and managing such incidents.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Comply with all DOT regulations, including hours of service (HOS) rules, to prevent driver fatigue and ensure safety on the road.
  • Stay informed about any changes in regulations that may impact your duties as a truck driver.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (e.g., hazardous materials, tanker, etc.).
  • Proven experience as a truck driver, with a clean driving record and a history of safe driving practices.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and trucking industry standards.
  • Ability to handle long hours and navigate routes effectively, including during night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with dispatchers and customers.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and assist with loading/unloading cargo as needed.
  • High level of reliability, responsibility, and self-discipline.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving long distances.
  • Capability to lift and move cargo up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing road conditions.
